Towables and Inflatables: Plenty of Water Fun and Enjoyment

It is rare to go to the lake or beach without seeing people laughing and having loads of fun riding on towables being pulled behind the boat. Water sport enthusiasts also enjoy other products that are stationery rather than towed, but either way one thing is for sure: Those folks are having fun!

Towables come in many different shapes, sizes, and price ranges. Various tubes and towables accommodate different ages and riding styles, so several things should be considered when selecting a towable tube.

You should decide exactly what you are looking for in a towable water tube. One important consideration is the number of people who will be using it. The type of boat you have also has a bearing on the size and configuration of your towable.

If you have children close in age to each other, you might want to consider an inflatable built for pulling multiple riders. There isn't much joy in an outing where one child is always complaining about waiting for their turn.

The excitement of riding a towable is often much greater when a child can share the experience with someone of the same age. Again, you might want to invest in something that has the option of one to three riders, even if you only have one of the kids is your own.

The age of the people who will ride your pull behind tube is important because smaller children will not be as physically capable as teenagers are. Usually, children in their teens will tell you what they are interested in so you don't have too many choices to concern yourself with.

Age is not always the only consideration because some very young children have sports abilities that are usually attributable to more mature kids. Some young people can maneuver a wakeboard as well as kids years older than they are. You have to be comfortable with the safety of a younger person and give the final word.

Inflatable riding products are designed with specific weight limits in mind. Be sure when making your selection to choose appropriately for your riders. It is dangerous and careless to attempt to overload anything that floats.

Features of the different towables are important because some people want to sit up and ride like you can do on the Airhead Hot Dog. Depending on the model you purchase, you can carry one to five riders. You get a lot of water spray from this one, but you are up higher from the water than with a towable designed to be ridden in a laying position.

Similarly, the Rave Sports 5-seat WaterBoggan Boat Tow is an easy to carry pull behind that carries five riders with no problems and it provides tons of fun.

Perhaps you have the need for a unit that carries six people, but they want to be able to talk and look at each other while they ride. You might consider the Aquaglide GT six-person tube. Everyone sits inside, but all get some great bounces and splashes as they cross the waves.

Your family might have the daughter with the boyfriend who can't seem to get along without each other for even a few minutes. The Rave Sports Slingshot works well because they can sit side by side and skip across the lake. You'll like it because you can keep your eyes on them quite well while they ride.

Other concerns about the towable inner tube you get is how well you can transport it. Once you put it in the water, it can float along quite nicely behind you when you aren't using it, but when you trailer the boat and get ready to go, you'll need to follow some guidelines on the proper way to get your towable toy safely home.

If you are pulling your towable with a jet ski, versus a boat, you need to know how good its performance will be if you have four people riding behind you. Jet skis work well for some things, just not all.

Inflatables aren't just for dragging around in the water, either. Stationary floats are great for the times when you want to kick back and swim. You can find floating water bars, bouncers and trampolines, jungle gyms, and slides, just to mention a few.

Most towables range in price from around $75 to $250, depending on the size and manufacturer, but where can you go on a vacation, or even to a water park, for that kind of money? The larger towables are usually the more expensive, but you can have lots of fun with any purchase that meets your needs.

You should have all the pertinent information you need to make a wise decision on a towable tube or inflatable fun toy for the kids in your family as well as the one in you. Don't let your summer go by without having your own towable or inflatable water tube. It's worth every nickel you spend.
